Jubilee

1. Sabbath Year & Jubilee (Leviticus 25)

Principle 1: God’s commands for the Sabbath & the Jubilee gives hope of new beginnings.

2. Blessings & Punishment  (Leviticus 26)

Principle 2: God is unrelenting in His pursuit to bring His wayward people back to Him.

3. Vows & Redemption  (Leviticus 27)

Principle 3: God has provided the Lord Jesus Christ as the Redeemer for His people.

Blessings remembered

This week had been filled by blessings
- we had secured a Primary 1 seat for Noah at Pei Hua Presbyterian Primary School .... no ballot at Phase 2B. ... amazing reminder from God to trust in Him! !
- hectic week at work but yet I have time and strength to complete BSF lessons and learning
- CG retreat was fun and a good timeout from secular life

Being Content

Focus Verse of the Week

I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength.  (Philippians 4:12-13

I can do all things through Him who strengthened me. Sweet and precious experience! not only because it gives me ability to meet all circumstances, which is of great price, but because the Lord is known, the constant, faithful, mighty friend of the heart.

It is not 'I can do all things,' but "I can do all through him who strengtheneth me." It is a strength which continually flows from a relationship with Christ, a connection with Him maintained in the heart. 

Christ had always been faithful to me, had brought me through so many difficulties and through so many seasons of prosperity, that I had learnt to trust in Him, and not in circumstances. And Christ was the same ever.

Christ gives us the strength to be content in any and every circumstance. This isn't carte blanche power to conquer every problem the world throws our way, but a gentle promise of God's sustaining presence no matter those problems.

Leviticus 16:21

How God loves us to provide us a way to remove sin .... this is but the prelude when Jesus come as the Lamb of God to fulfill all these ceremonial offerings.

Leviticus 16:21 (NIV)

21 He is to lay both hands on the head of the live goat and confess over it all the wickedness and rebellion of the Israelites—all their sins—and put them on the goat’s head. He shall send the goat away into the wilderness in the care of someone appointed for the task.

Principle 2: When we do all as God command, He will be pleased.

Frog in the boiling pot

Good reminder that we are to be set apart from the world. Pray that I be guarded to compromise and accommodate to the norms of the world.

You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. (James 4:4)

Commentary

If the path of accommodation and compromise continues unabated, eventually the church reaches a point of friendship with the world. This is an extremely dangerous place for the believer. Like the proverbial frog in the boiling pot, he has lost the ability to sense the heat slowly rising and is likely to slowly cook until almost all distinction from the culture is lost. This was precisely God’s point when He dealt with Israel in the Old Testament. God went to great lengths to separate Israel from the surrounding nations because He knew all too well the eventual destination of the path of incremental compromise and accommodation.

Today I committed to join the BSF leadership. Praying that I can cope and that God will provide me the strength and time management.

First Leader's Meeting

I managed to wake at 4.55am and get to BSF to attend my first Leaders BSF session.
It was a nice welcome and an eye opening time.

Thank you Lord for helping me settle into the session. Even at the prayer to be able to kneel before God and bring our prayers to you!
