Romans 7 :Law and Gospel

Aim: Believers should expect a lifelong struggle with sin

1. Dying to Law (v1-6)

Principle 1: Christ frees believers to serve

2. Jesus delivers (v7-25)

Principle 2: Believers overcomes sin through the Lord Jesus Christ

Believers are called to bear fruit for God and fight sin

Take away

We have actual freedom to bear fruit

- matter of choice

We are free to sin - or not

Choosing not to sin is only possible when Jesus Christ is Lord

Romans 6:12-23

Aim: God’s grace enables obedience which leads to holiness.

1. The redeemed live under grace (Romans 6:12-14)

Principle 1: God’s grace enables obedience.

2. The redeemed are committed to obedience (Romans 6:15-18)

Principle 2: True freedom comes from obeying God from the heart

3. The redeemed receive the gift of eternal life (Romans 6: 19-23)

Principle 3: obedience to God is rewarded with the gift of eternal life in Christ Jesus
