22. How does God minister His grace to you?
God ministers His
grace to me by the power of the Holy Spirit through His Word, baptism and the
Lord’s Supper, in the fellowship of His Church.Romans 8:9-14 (NIV)
9 You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.
12 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.
14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.
Romans 10:14 (NIV)
14 How, then, can they
call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one
of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to
them?
Acts 2:38 (NIV)
38 Peter replied, “Repent
and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the
forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 11:23-25 (NIV)
23 For I received from
the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was
betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given
thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in
remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way, after supper
he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this,
whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
Ephesians 4:11-13 (NIV)
11 So Christ himself gave
the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the
body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach
unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature,
attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
